SRGC 2018 PROGRAM HIGHLIGHTS

  • Over 80 research presentations from across Canada.

  • Special presentation from the Scientific Director, The Institute of Musculoskeletal Health and Arthritis (IMHA), Canadian Institutes for Health Research (CIHR), Dr. Karim Khan.

  • In partnership with the CIHR, CDF and MITACS a workshop on Navigating Funding Sources in Dermatology.

  • A workshop and a launch of a new mentoring program on Acquiring Excellence in Clinical Research.

  • Disease-Focused Round-table Discussions with clinicians, scientists, patient support groups and industry partners on Psoriasis, Eczema, Wound healing, Scleroderma and autoimmune diseases, Urticaria, and Skin Cancer.

  • With support of our industry partners a Career Forum for graduate students and postdoctoral fellows.

  • In partnership with patient support/advocacy groups a forum on Connecting our Research to Patients.

 

Learning Objectives:

 

  • Participants will get acquainted with molecular parthenogenesis for a number of skin diseases including psoriasis, atopic dermatitis, acne, vitiligo, scleroderma, epidermolysis bullosa, cutaneous lymphomas, melanoma, non-melanoma skin cancers and chronic wound healing. 

  • Participants will be able to measure the impact of recent advances in research on these diseases and will be able to better differentiate how targeted therapies can be used to treat these conditions.

  • Participants will be able to evaluate the impact of these diseases on patients' daily life from patient support group presentations. 

  • Participants will be able to define patients' priorities in skin research.

  • Participant will also be able to consider how future research on these conditions can improve their diagnosis and management.

  • At least 25 % of the conference time is dedicated to interactive sessions.
